Shaw University’s PSA featuring Rapsody and Charlie Smarts of Kooley High

Rapsody and Charlie Smarts, of Kooley High, were contracted to produced a Public Service Announcement for Shaw University’s Alcohol Awareness Week by Damen Cromwell (substance abuse counselor) and the Shaw University Peer Educator Role Models.

This PSA features NYC-based physical fitness organization Bartendaz/Giant Thinking. Also featured are local hip-hop group, Kooley High. Not only is their music featured (as well as a solo track by Tab One from the group), but two of their members performed as actors.

Sparks chose the album title Super Senior as a metaphor for individuals that continue to repeat certain stages of life without making any significant progress. ‘As we all know…a Super Senior is a person that has been in school for a while and has failed to graduate…I wanted to create a conceptual album that told a story…and at the same time provided a message.’
