As the festive season grows closer and closer, Illmind and Dub MD are back with an early Christmas present for everyone following the movement, with the fourth installment of the Blaps, Rhymes & Life compilation series. This edition is a little special, and the first of its kind, comprising of 2 Discs with double the dose of classic Illmind production. Volume 4 showcases the usual mixture of mainstream/upcoming artists: KRS-One, Keith Murray, Erykah Badu, Big Pooh, Skyzoo, Jared Evan, Reef The Lost Cauze, D-Black, Thoth and many more.

I Got Money So Jay Could $tay Paid

June 9, 2009 Leave a comment

Last weekend, I went to my local record store looking for a CD copy of Jay $tay Paid and they didn’t even get it yet. I almost left, but I decided to turn around and try to find something I didn’t know I needed. I’m a little mad that I spent  most of the money intended for Jay $tay Paid, but I came out a winner with my selections.

About $15

What you see on your computer screen right now is a huge collaboration with Mick Boogie, Terry Urban, VIMBY, URB Mag and 6 of ATL’s rising stars. This mixtape is more of a compilation that incorporates music from Donnis, Killer Mike, Izza Kizza, Proton, Grip Plyaz and Hollyweerd. These artists also happen to be performing at SXSW as I type this post.

The Terminator: Rise of the MCs is the blueprint to the sound of the “new” West. Mixed by DJ Spintelect, this mixtape is clearly dominated by the FCC (Fresh Coast Collective) and contains songs from H.O.P.E., U-N-I, Inverse and more. You’d be considered a fool if you don’t download this.

Adele’s album 19 set trends and created influence in the pop, rock and international worlds. But what would happen if the vocals and instruments of 19 were combined with the hip-hop sensibilities of the late 1980s, considered by many hip-hop’s golden age?
The result is the new release from Mick Boogie… Adele: 1988.

More than a mashup, it’s a complete reinterpretation of Adele’s album as only Mick Boogie and friends can do.

Executive produced by Mick Boogie and co-starring producers 6th Sense, The Kickdrums, Garbs Infinite, Remot, and nVMe as well as guest vocalists Big Pooh of Little Brother, Naledge of Kidz In The Hall and more.
